7 Tips for Surviving a Long Flight

We all want to travel to an exotic country, but the one thing in the way of you and your destination is a long flight. So how do you survive a long flight? We travel to the far reaches of the Earth, including group tours to South Africa, Indonesia, and more. You can expect to sit on a plane for sometimes more than ten hours.

Here are a few tips to make the flight feel shorter:

Watch Movies

Most flights have an entertainment screen right in front of you with an entire playlist of popular movies. Sit back and hit play, and you can knock out blocks of 2-3 every time while catching up on movies you might’ve missed in theaters.

Mobile Gaming

Guys love their video games and can sit for hours at a time, even at home playing online.

Bring the games on the road and play a few of the mobile systems during the flight. You can also download all the top-rated games on your phone before takeoff.

Listen to Music

Who doesn’t love music? A long flight is a perfect opportunity to zone out to your favorite music playlist or discover some new music you’ve been looking forward to hearing.  In case you forgot your headphones, flights with entertainment screens typically pass out complimentary headphones while boarding.

In-Flight WiFi

The modern way of flying is by taking advantage of in-flight WiFi. In-flight WiFi is no longer just a service reserved for first-class, although there may be an additional cost or time limit.

Read

Walkthrough the airport en route to your gate, and you’ll surely pass by one of more bookstores. Check out some of the latest releases or bring along your favorite book. There’s never been a better chance to knock out a few chapters (or an entire novel) while sitting for hours on a plane.

Write

Some people like to read, and others prefer writing. Take the opportunity to jot down those ideas that have been floating around in your head the past few days. Whether you use your laptop or more traditional with pen and paper, long flights are a great time for writing without many distractions.

Sleep

When all else fails, sleep! A lot of people say they can’t sleep on planes, but if you’re sitting down so many hours, it’s not rare to catch a few Z’s along the trip. Many long flights have turn downtime in the plane where the lights get turned down. It’s the perfect time to begin adjusting to your next time zone.
