Five Things You Should NOT Pack When Traveling Abroad

If it’s your first time traveling abroad, it’s easy to be tempted to pack your entire life - you never know what to expect on vacation after all.

Feel free to pack what you wish, but try to resist your temptation when considering to pack these unnecessary items:

Large Toiletries

The worse thing you can do is arrive at the airport with a bottle of your favorite perfume, lotion, or hair products. Did you know that there’s a limit on the bottle size of all of your toiletries when you are only traveling with a carry-on? You don’t want to have to toss out your favorite (and probably expensive) products.

TSA usually allows up to 3.4 FL OZ, any more will be thrown out. Most international countries will allow you up to 100 ml. When packing any full-size liquids (or anything that can be melted into a liquid-like soap, hair butters etc… keep that in mind.

Leave them at home or purchase small disposable bottles to bring just a sample of them if you really need to.

Manicure Sets

It’s best to take care of all your manicures and pedicures before you leave home. Manicure sets are notorious for being thrown out at the airport. The issue with manicure sets is the small sharp objects in them, such as a nail picker or scissors. If it’s a sharp item or something you’re unsure about, the best choice is not to bring it at all.

Inappropriate Clothing

Ok, so we’re not talking about your smallest dress or swimsuit...be sure to bring those! Whenever you pack, check the weather for where you’re going. We plan trips around the world and during different seasons. Pack appropriately for your destination while keeping in mind some of the cultural norms when planning to go out at night or visiting famous attractions.

Snacks and Drinks

You’re traveling abroad for one week and don’t want to be without your favorite snack or drink. The bad news is that you’re best to leave it behind because airports have strict regulations over carrying certain types of food and liquids while traveling. The good news is that you’ll force yourself out of your comfort zone to try the local favorites. You’ll always have the best food during our trips...we won’t steer you wrong.

Valuables

Even if you enjoy dressing up in your finest when going out, consider being a bit conservative when traveling abroad. Pictures in an exotic location are enough to get the Likes you want, so no need to be even flashier. Leave valuables at home to avoid getting them lost or stolen during your trip.
